How to tent a wood floor.

Properly Tenting a Wet Wood Floor

Wood floors are not supposed to get wet. But when they do there is a proper way of tenting them to keep insurance costs down.

  1. Place floor mat system - seen under the tent the mat system extracts water from between the wood slats.
  2. Tent wet area - use 6 millimeter plastic sheeting and tape to floor.
  3. Use dehumidification - the exhaust of the dehumidifier is warm dry air that increases the rate of evaporation.

With the tent in place it will take a few days for the wood to dry. It's important to monitor the drying process as wood should always retain around 10% moisture, too dry and it will crack.
